My favorite 10 Anime Songs of 2008

Hey! This year’s post isn’t all songs sung by little girls, so maybe people will actually agree with me on some of these picks.

10. Seikan Hikou & What ’bout my Star – Nakajima Megumi (Ranka Lee) – Off the Macross Frontier OSTs

Macross Frontier had a ton of good songs. I figured I’d put one of these two in the number 10 spot, and I ended up doing both. Ties are easier.

8. Blaze – Kotoko – Shakugan no Shana 2 OP 2

Probably one of the only good things to come out of that season.

7. Mononoke Dance – Denki Groove – Hakaba Kitaro OP

This song is funky like nobody’s business

6. Shalalala Dolce – Gotou Yuuko (Hiro) – off her Hidamari Sketch x365 Character album

Pretty much every song to come out of Hidamari Sketch is overwhelmingly adorable, and this one’s no exception.

5. Resonance – T.M. Revolution – Soul Eater OP

I didn’t stick with the series, but I still love the OP

4. Hen na Kami-sama Shitteru yo – Hanazawa Kana(Yuuka) – Kyouran Kazoku Nikki ED

If you ignore how depressing this girl’s life is, the song is the cutest thing to come out of 2008.

3. Ninji-n Loves You Yeah! – Nakajima Megumi again, this time from Macross Frontier OST 1

CARROTS. COLORFUL CARROTS. AND THEY LOVE YOU.

2. Yaruki ga Funyaa – Asumi Kana (Yuno) – off her Hidamari Sketch x365 Character album

What I said above about Hiro’s song, only double it for Yuno. Nutbladder bursting and all that.

1. My kitten – Thyme – Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~ OP single album

I got this album for the OP, and this song was so much better. Probably one of my most listened to songs of all time.

Honorable Mention

Shut up and Explode – Boom Boom Satellites (Xamd OP)

The song came out in 2007 so it doesn’t really make the list, but it’s a great track.

Dishonorable Mention – Aimo

If I hear that song one more fucking time…
