This will be a short post, because I have no words for this crap. I’m dropping this terrible excuse of a remake here and now. It’s not as good as the original in so many different ways, but I will express this once again in a brief series of pictures.
THEN

NOW

Complete failure.
I dropped it as well. It brought fucking tears to my eyes. Production quality is horrible. Inconsistent animation, ugly frames, and different seiyuus. It’s not the same without the fanservice.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Man, this is airing on TVTokyo. Did you honestly think they’d be cool with 5th grader panties?
I thought it was fine. Different, but fine. Not as good as the OVA, though. I’ll keep with it for a while and see where it goes.
I don’t know anything about Japanese stations, and I don’t see the point of making this remake and then taking away its defining features.
This remake is utter rubbish and what the girls new face make overs really stabbed my heart.
Goddamnit. This animation is shit. I’m going to keep watching in hopes it gets better, although it’s unlikely. They’ll have to come up with some new material to cover the remaining 12 episodes. Hopefully some of it will be worth watching.
At least the scene with the broom guitars was pretty funny.
[...] The 5-2 TV series is already suffering the fate nearly all remakes suffer from. No matter how hard Xebec tries, they will never be able to live up to what fans expect. I guess that’s why they just decided to completely overhaul the whole thing by redrawing the characters (IIRC they’re closer to the manga designs, but I’d have to check), changing the voice actors, and putting their own unique directorial spin on it. As usual, these kinds of attempts to completely divorce a new work from the original only serve to piss people off even more. So as a result, just after one episode, this show seems pretty hated. Your so true about this new remake sucks =.=
