Man, the last 5 minutes of this episode completely makes up for 21 episodes of terrible writing, and I say 21 epsisodes because this episode was no better. Marianne and Charles and their ridiculous God killing crap were just another gimmick to advance the plot. It seems the writers can’t get enough of spending large amounts of time on something or other just to use it once and then forget it exists. Charles’ Geass, Orange’s canceler, Nina’s nuke, Marianne’s survival: all of it seemed so important only to be pushed to the side so quickly after they’d served their purpose. The entire series has shoddily thrown things together, all in the name of putting Lelouch on the throne, and it was pretty easy too. “Hi guys, I’m your new emporer. Let me show you my Geass. Sweet. That’s taken care of.”
Seeing him there with Suzaku with those hilariously evil smirks on their faces just makes me all fanboy bubbly. Who cares if it took the most contrived plot twists to get them there? The show is giving me what I want and I am laughing my ass off because of it. It’s so delightful. The only thing that upsets me is C.C.’s face at the end. She doesn’t seem too happy about the way things have turned out, but if Lelouch really hasn’t lost his way as the preview would suggest, maybe things will turn out alright in the end.
So what’s left to do? We’ve got a few more episodes, and Schneizel’s plans are unknown at this point. Bismark obviously plans to put up a fight, and he’s got Geass on his side, despite Charles’ dissaperance.

Maybe this will give the writers an oportunity to put Orange’s canceler back in play. And the preview also shows Kallen and Lelouch together, so maybe we’ll get some relationship progress before this is all over. Though who would want to fuck a guy when he’s wearing such a stupid hat?
Let’s end this with a bang folks. Since Lelouch is finally Emporer, he’d better do some crazy shit. I’m in the mood for something insane, and R2 has certainly provided good WTF moments. The last thing I want at this point is for the series to actually become “good,” because it would feel so out of place. I think the series has finally hit its stride.

Man. That face. How can you not want to punch that face? :P
I know it’ll probably never be good by your standards, but at least you will find some entertainment by continuing to watch, so that’s fine.
I have to say that for all its problems I actually liked 21, especially more than 20 since at least it kept some focus and didn’t keep jumping around, even if the subject matter was convoluted enough in and of itself.
Again, I still think the biggest problem here is the lack of time for certain developments to happen properly, and that could have been partially or completely resolved without the time slot change, maybe not to the extent of making Code Geass a good show in your eyes but at least better overall.
Speaking of gimmicks, I’d say the Geass canceler was the worst of those, the others can be defended or at least explained, but I’m lazier than I read like.
all i can say….because im in total agreement in everything….is…
AMEN!!!
As soon as i saw lelouch walk on the stage, then use his geass….well…lets see…
awsome!
i dont care how evil or stupid it is….awsome.
and tell me again how we went from awsome styles of clothing to funky hats with feathers?…lulu….i sourley wish shirley was back to update your fashion. on second thought….maybe he should just be like King Yuri from Kyou Kara Mou and just fashion off a school unifrom as his royal attire.
I completely missed this stupid hat everyone is going on about.
It’s at the end of the preview for ep.22. Kallen is walking with who most people assume is Lulu in a silly hat.
Oh, I’ve seen stupider.
But it’s still pretty stupid.

This show sucks. Like I’ve been watching it all the way up to ep 21 and ep 21 finally made me realize how much garbage this show is. It really is a let down. “Charles’ Geass, Orange’s canceler, Nina’s nuke, Marianne’s survival: all of it seemed so important only to be pushed to the side so quickly after they’d served their purpose.”
That about sums it up. It held no substance. Horrid show…but nevertheless, I’m going to finish it.

That’s pretty much the popular opinion now. The series lost its steam and direction and it’s headed off the rails. Now everyone is just waiting to see how bad the wreck will be.
