So I really misread the plot synopsis for Kokoro Toshokan. Spoilers to follow.
I guess I was only paying attention to the last part of the synopsis. I was under the impression that it was a show about a young girl at a library who heard it was going to close, and then decided to travel to the mayor’s to overturn the decision. Along the way she meets a lot of people who like her because she’s really cute, and when she gets to the mayor’s, there’s a happy ending because everyone she met is there to help.
Now obviously, it didn’t take long to realize my mistake. I still watched it, but I watched it filled with disappointment, especially when it turned out to be one of those dramas where at least one character is crying every single episode. The happiness is dulled by the severely unnecessary drama. There were a few good moments in the last few episodes. Like the actual journey to the mayor’s which only lasted 5 minutes ;_; I wasn’t hugely fond of the character designs either. The eldest sister looked like an uglier version of Maria from Hayate. I guess the highlight of the show was the eldest sister’s apparant sexual attraction to the youngest sister. Nothing wrong with lesbian incest. I’d watch that porn :V
But basically, the biggest shot to the heart of the show is that I followed it immediately with Kamichu. I’d say it took MAYBE 30 seconds before I liked Yurie better than any of the characters in Kokoro, and maybe another minute or two before I was absolutely infatuated with her and the show. It’s creative, fun, and cute as hell. When I have more money, this is the first thing I’ll buy.
I mean, seriously. A high school girl becomes a powerful god and creates a monster typhoon her first day on the job. Then she meets a lesser, but slightly older god that wants to be a punk rocker. Throw in all the cute classmates and the way Yurie is always awkwardly trying to express herself and you have me hooked.
Well, Kokoro is totally slice-of-life so unless your thebigN it’s not gunna be in your top 10. Kamichu is legendary as one of the greatest anime of all time – it’s no surprise (I also need to watch Kamichu once I’m done with a few other shows >_>)
I’d only watch Kokoro when I’m bored enough to want to see Chiwa Saito’s debut as a voice actress.
I’m not that bored yet.
Also Kokoro’s plot sounds like dumb Manabi Straight bullshit.
Kind of, only Manabi Straight was at least really cute and funny before it got boring.
“Well, Kokoro is totally slice-of-life so unless your thebigN it’s not gunna be in your top 10.”
t(”t).
It’s nice to watch, but nowhere near good enough to be in my top 10. :P
I guess I have a higher tolerance for boring things than others. :3
